When Jeff shows up in my feed, I stop and listen for a few minutes because I usually get a complete and interesting story. We did our first I-95 Morning Show Q&A with him back in November of 2023 and spoke about his work in very general terms.
I asked him to come back and Nadu joined us on the Friday (1/12/24) edition of the I-95 Morning Show. We covered a variety of topics but it was Nadu's professional life that jumped out to me. Nadu worked for Dave Portnoy's Barstool Sports and the two sides had a very public split back in the summer of 2023. Portnoy even called Nadu a "selfish pig" during a rant on X.
We asked Nadu about what happened with Barstool, this is what he had to say:
"I worked at Barstool twice, I left there in June of '23 and there is no real issue. We just had a disagreement, I wanted more money. They were in the process of getting rid of people so they didn't want to give me more money so I said alright I'm gonna leave and go back on my own and kind of do my own thing. It was a big thing, they made it into a big thing, the owner Dave Portnoy made it into a big thing but you know we made it through. We made it past it. but I love Barstool, I had a good time there, I was with them off and on for five years. So, it's a long part of my adult life but you grow out of things and you've got to move on eventually. Barstool was great but I want to be on my own and able to kind of move around and do what I do, multifaceted in everything I do."
I've been in the media for almost 25 years and I'm so thankful that I've been working for the same brand for that whole time. These splits are never clean, never easy and when all is said and done, you have to start over from zero.
The Barstool chat was a very small part of our conversation. The real reason we had Jeff on was to help crystalize some mob storylines that have taken center stage in the last few months. To hear our full interview Check out the Ethan, Lou & Large Dave Show Podcast on Apple & Spotify and search "Jeff Nadu."
P.S. I have been a fan of Barstool since it was a website that was only about Boston and I think it's gotten better every year. It says a lot about the brand that you will hear it referenced on every major radio show and podcast in America if you listen long enough.
