MaryJo Marra-Hauser is in need of a live donor kidney before time runs out.

MaryJo needs a kidney and she needs it much sooner than later. According to the Ridgefield Press, Hauser, who recently retired as assistant superintendent of the North Salem school district has set up a Facebook page titled, "Kidney Donation for MaryJo, Award Winning Educator." MaryJo's family members have already been tested and deemed medically unqualified to donate their kidney.  The search is now on for a live kidney donor because the wait for a deceased donor kidney takes about 4 to 7 years and the harsh truth is that MaryJo doesn't have that kind of time until her own kidneys fail. She got hit with systemic lupus at the age of 21.

Kidneys that are harvested from live donors tend to last longer, and in most cases guarantee a better life for the recipient. Any donors that might be interested in helping MaryJo please email bwhkidneydonorinfo@partners.org or call The Living Donor Transplant Coordinator at 617-278-0030. If you think you might be interested, please reach out to MaryJo because time is running out!
