According to a release from the City of Danbury, the city is looking to hire some extra help for the Highway Department, and they're offering $30 an hour to get the job done.

The position is for a seasonal truck driver, with the job focused largely on helping Danbury deal with whatever winter decides to throw at us. That includes snow removal, plowing and other highway operations. So, if you enjoy driving big trucks and have always wanted to be part of the team that gets Danbury's roads cleared after a snowstorm, this might be worth checking out.

The position is seasonal and comes with a 40-hour workweek. The city says a CDL is preferred, but it is not required, which definitely opens the door for more people who may have the experience and interest but don't currently have a commercial driver's license.

And let's be honest, there aren't a whole lot of jobs where your main responsibility can basically be summed up as, "Go out there and make sure everyone can get where they're going when Mother Nature makes a mess."

The Highway Department plays a pretty important role during the winter months, particularly when snow and ice turn the roads into a giant headache. The seasonal drivers will be part of the operation helping keep streets passable and the city moving.

The City of Danbury's employment system also lists truck-driving positions within the Highway Department involving plowing, salting and other road operations, although the seasonal position advertised in the city's release specifically lists $30 per hour.

If you're interested, applications are being accepted online through the City of Danbury's employment portal. This could be a pretty good opportunity for someone looking for seasonal work, especially if you're comfortable behind the wheel and don't mind working outside when Connecticut decides it's time for winter.

And at $30 an hour, you might even forgive the snow for showing up.
