Danbury Police Say They Interrupted a Fentanyl Drug Deal in Progress
Danbury Police arrested two men in a parking lot on Germantown Road Tuesday.
According to a Press Release from the Danbury Police Department, 45-year-old Geritt Dustin Walker of New Milford and 39-year-old Gregory Mead of Danbury were caught in the middle of a drug deal when police closed in.
The release states that Walker is a convicted drug dealer who is known to DPD. The Danbury Police Department's Special Investigation Division (SID) has been working with the DEA and the Danbury Patrol Division on an ongoing drug investigation in the Hat City. Authorities are particularly concerned with a recent spike in Fentanyl distribution.
On Tuesday afternoon (10/11/22), Danbury PD said they approached a vehicle driven by Greg Mead, after Walker got into his car. Authorities say they saw a drug deal in progress and interrupted it. DPD say both Walker and Mead were placed under arrest and a search of the vehicle turned up 10 bags of fentanyl and money.
Listen to our I-95 Morning Show segment about the arrest below.
Walker was charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of narcotics with intent to sell and sale of a narcotic substance. He was hit with a $50,000 bond.
Gregory Mead was charged with possession of a controlled substance and has a $5,000 bond.
Both men were transported to HQ and processed.
This is an extensive and long-term investigation going on in the Hat City that has taken a lot of drugs, money and weapons off the street since it began.
