The word from Danbury Mayor Joe Cavo is there's no rush to jump into the retail, legal weed game just yet. He told the Ethan and Lou Morning Show that it would last for one year if a moratorium is established.

Mayor Cavo went on to say that this would allow the city to enter into discussions about rules and regulations as they pertain to legal weed shops in Danbury. This decision also includes not accepting or approving applications regarding retail recreational marijuana shops.

Compassionate Care, the medical marijuana dispensary in Bethel, has been approved for expansion at a former Webster Bank branch on Mill Plain Road and will become Danbury's first retail cannabis dispensary in early May of 2022. The following is an eight-minute video on how to buy cannabis products at a dispensary.

According to wfsb.com, Waterbury follows Danbury's lead and discusses a potential one-year moratorium on recreational marijuana sales. In addition, the town of Prospect, a seven-minute drive east of Waterbury, has already voted to ban "marijuana establishments" and Ridgefield and Newtown are also discussing the possibility of not allowing any retail pot shops in town.
