Do you feel the need for speed? High-octane motorcycle and quad racing is coming to the Danbury Arena on Jan. 3-4. These powerful machines, modified for use on ice, can go 0-60 mph in 3 seconds.

To truly grasp how fast that is, here are three other things that can move that quickly:

  • McLaren 12C: Wikipedia charts this standard sports car from 2.9 to 3.1 seconds.
  • Tesla Model 3 Performance: The standard 0-60 stat you'll see for this electric car is 3.2 seconds, but electrek.co says it it dipped below 3 seconds after a software update.
  • A cheetah: Yep, they can go 0-60 in 3 seconds — and do it in just three strides, according to core77.com.

"Ice racing consists of heats where riders earn points to qualify for the Main (final race)," according to the event ticket website. "Qualifying heats consist of four riders racing handlebar-to-handlebar for four laps. The Main Event consists of six riders for six laps."

Ticket-holders will be able to look at these powerful motorcycles and quads up-close — and they'll receive a voucher for a free tour of the Orange County Choppers Headquarters in Newburgh, New York. American Chopper's Paul Teutul Sr. also will make a special appearance.

The event is presented by Mitchell Oil, Danbury Overhead Door, Orange County Choppers and the Orange County Choppers Café.

Tickets, $16 each, can be purchased online here or by calling 203-794-1704.
