"BABY!" That is what my co-worker shouted at me for weeks after my daughter was born.

I thought it was both disrespectful and funny that she didn't bother to commit my daughter's name to memory. If you find yourself in the same situation, as my colleague and can't remember a babies name, just shout Noah or Olivia and you'll probably be right.

According to the most recently updated information from the SSA (Social Security Administration) Noah was the most popular boy name for babies in CT, and Olivia was the top girl-name in the Nutmeg State. In 2021 alone, there were 249 baby boys named Noah, and there were 221 Olivia's born in CT. The second most popular names for boys were Liam (217), and for girls it was Charlotte (187).

Our neighbors in New York flip-flopped the boy names at 1 & 2. Liam was the most popular name, and Noah came in at #2. While the Olivia was still the most popular baby name for girls, followed by Emma.

I decided to go back as far as the data would allow (1960) to prove my hypothesis that the most popular names were a lot less hip, or trendy and I was right but I learned a lot more. Yes, the names were John and Susan which is kind of what I expected but it's the volume of people named John and Susan that flattened me.

In 1960 there were 1,385 babies named John in Connecticut and 789 babies named Susan. It's not as if everyone in CT, chose two names, there were more babies on every line of the grid than I saw in 2021. Y'all were not kidding about this "baby boom" I've heard so much about.
