Imagine climbing up 19,340 feet to the top of one of the world's tallest mountains.

That is exactly what Naugatuck Police Detective Tom McGarvey has in mind. The mountain is Kilimanjaro in the East African country of Tanzania. WTNH-TV has reported that McGarvey, along with a dedicated group of law enforcement officers from all over Connecticut have one goal in mind, to raise over $100,000 for Special Olympics.  Even those who are already in excellent shape must train especially hard for a climb of this magnitude which is why this group of dedicated law enforcement officers has set their sights on February of 2020 for their noble money raising climb.

Detective McGarvey is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and is looking forward to this new challenge, but to raise the money, he will need your help. Garvey's personal goal is to raise $100,000 for Special Olympics of Connecticut.

If you so choose, here's how you can help. Just click on Detective McGarvey's FB fundraising page and give what you can afford at www.classy.org/fundraiser. On his FB page, Detective McGarvey states:

This may seem like a challenge of a lifetime, but it pales in comparison to the challenges Special Olympics athletes face and overcome each day. I thank you in advance for your support and encouragement.
