CT Couple Confront Man They Suspect of Violin Scam
Reports of violin scams are running rampant in the U.S.

The scammers set up shop in a public place, play the violin and panhandle for money. Police warnings have come in from many cities, including CT warning that this is a scam.
When we first brought this to the attention of the public on my radio show we had reports from our Ethan and Lou Show listeners who said not only are the folks involved not from "in-need" families but they're not even playing the violin. Witnesses told us that the violin is being played on a backing track and the "musician" is just miming the entire time.
A few weeks ago (6/24/22) I told you I spotted a violin scammer in Danbury, CT, in the Whole Foods parking lot.

I took a video of their "performance" and posted it in my article for this site, and our I-95 Rock Mobile app. When I did this, I hung back and just observed but that is not everyone's style.
Recently I saw a video on Instagram that was captured in Stamford, CT according to the person who posted it. I reached out to @ronrogell who have me permission to share his exchange with a person he believes is a violin scammer.
This video, this exchange raises a lot of interesting questions. Do you think it's OK that we live in a state that allows anyone to film, or photograph you without your permission? What if this in fact a scammer? Is this deception OK with you?
From a personal standpoint, I don't think it's OK to deceive the public and ask for money but I learned that a lot of people were OK with it. When I published my last article on the topic there were a lot more people coming to the defense of the "musician" than I thought there would be.
Labeling this a scam means that we have to identify what an "in-need" person is based on a personal judgement. We know that is murky water, and so do the scammers. It's my opinion, that people who run these scams do-so, knowing the woke culture will protect them from people who are willing to call them scammers, and individuals who are willing to point the finger and say they 're not "in-need."
I don't know the right answer but It pisses me off that we have to, have this discussion. This type of thing, can make people second-guess whether or not they should help a person, who is asking for it.
If you'd like to help a family or families here in the Greater-Danbury area reach out to the Hillside Food Outreach. You can rest assured, knowing the money and food you donate goes to help feed people in our local area. Hillside not only gathers the food and money for in-need families but they are always seeking volunteers to help deliver it. We also spoke about this on the Ethan and Lou Morning Show on June 23, 2022 and you can listen below:

We have to make sure we cover all of our social media hot spots. Below is a Youtube video that deals with the same topic. It was posted to Youtube on Ma 21, 2021 by a Youtube user called "stop_the_bull_hit"
