CT Beach Info For Memorial Day Weekend
Planning to hit the beach this weekend? Here's what you need to know.
First off, head there early. Many beaches were closed by late morning on Friday due to parking lots and parks being at capacity. A good site to check is the state DEEP's CT State Parks Twitter page, they update closings as they happen.
The DEEP has also issued some important safety guidelines so that you can enjoy the weekend while practicing that all-important social distancing. They include:
- Choose the destination closest to your home.
- If you aren't feeling well, stay home!
- Visit with members of your own household and in groups of five or fewer.
- Observe social distancing of at least 6 feet between individuals, and 15 feet between groups on the beach. Observe all posted social distancing guidelines.
- Know that some bathrooms and snack stands may be closed, and plan accordingly.
- Bring your own water bottle. Water fountains should not be used.
- Observe social distancing of at least 6 feet between individuals, and 15 feet between groups on the beach. Observe all posted social distancing guidelines.
- Plan an alternative activity. If the location is closed or too crowded when you arrive, consider going for a hike at a nearby park, or other outdoor activity. It is important to get fresh air, sunlight, and exercise.
State Park and Beach info can be found on the DEEP's website. With the weather forecast pretty good all weekend except Saturday, you can expect the beaches to be busy. Just keep safety in mind and everyone should be able to have a great weekend.
