Connecticut takes drunk driving seriously.

Honestly, you'd think every state would be diligent about the penalties that they hand out to intoxicated drivers, but it turns out that many are pretty lax in that. Question is, where does Connecticut come in on the list?

The personal-finance website WalletHub just released an in-depth report about the strictest and most lenient states when it comes to DUI. You might wonder why they would do this sort of study, but considering that, according to the latest data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, drunk driving costs us more than $44 billion - dollars annually and causes about 10,000 deaths every year, it makes sense.

WalletHub compared the penalties in each of the 50 states and the District of Columbia. Everything from fines and minimum jail time to various states implementation of those ignition interlock devices.

Connecticut ranks 7th overall as one of the strictest states with Arizona topping the list. For the full list, and all of the results go to wallethub.com

Don't forget that Connecticut also takes texting and driving very seriously as well.
