CT’s Roving DUI Patrols for Labor Day: What You Need to Know

Labor Day Weekend 2024 is upon us and that means a lot of celebrating, it also means people around the Nutmeg State will be consuming a fair amount of alcohol. The Connecticut State Police want the public to have fun but to do so responsibly.

On Tuesday (08/27/24) the Connecticut State Police Office of Media Relations issued a press release alerting residents to the dangers of drunken driving and how they plan to curb it. Here is everything you need to know about Connecticut's Roving DUI Patrols for 2024.

When will the roving DUI Patrols take place in Connecticut?

Connecticut State Police say they will begin their DUI patrols starting at Noon on Friday, August 30th and continue through 11:59pm Monday, September 2nd.

• Your Connecticut State Troopers expect heavy traffic during this long holiday weekend. We remind drivers that arriving safely at their destination should always be their priority.
• Always obey the Move Over Law, which requires any operator of a motor vehicle on a highway when approaching one or more vehicles that are stationary or traveling significantly below the posted speed limit and located on the shoulder, lane or breakdown lane of such highway shall (1) immediately reduce speed to a reasonable level below the posted speed limit, and (2) if traveling in the lane adjacent to the shoulder, lane or breakdown lane containing such vehicle, move such motor vehicle over one lane, unless such movement would be unreasonable or unsafe.
