KFC has a new limited-time menu offering coming to Connecticut locations, and I'm here to tell you the name is going to cause some confusion. According to Food & Wine, they're rolling out Mashed Potato Poppers, and yeah, you read that right—fried mashed potatoes. Sounds like something is missing, we'll come back to that.

You can grab the poppers on their own, paired with a side of gravy, or go all out with the new "Dunk It Bucket." The Dunk It Bucket comes with KFC's Original Recipe tenders, fries, and a choice of dipping sauces. You get to pick three sauces from a selection of seven, including classics like Warm Gravy, Honey BBQ, and Ranch, plus some fun ones like Buffalo Ranch and "Comeback Sauce."

Prices for the Dunk It Bucket are around $7, though they warn that prices and availability may vary by location. These poppers are inspired by a snack called "mashies" that KFC sells in Australia, so if you're craving something new and different, this is definitely worth checking out while it lasts. Just don't get confused when you hear "poppers"—this isn’t the kind you're thinking of!

Alright, let’s get something straight. These “poppers” from KFC? No hot peppers. Now, I’m not sure what’s going on in Australia, but that’s really not my concern. Here in the States, when I hear “poppers,” I’m thinking spicy fried pockets filled with cheddar or cream cheese. That’s the deal.

When I’m hitting up fast food, I’ve already given up on my diet. I’m not looking for a healthy choice—I want to indulge! I’m sitting in my car, munching on whatever greasy, crispy goodness makes me happy. And if I’m ordering poppers, I expect… , poppers.

But if I get a mouthful of mashed potatoes instead? We've got a problem. So just know before you get too excited—KFC’s version of poppers is a 100% WONKY. Don’t say I didn’t warn you!
