Watch: Connecticut Husky Rushes in to Stop Charging Black Bear
According to Yahoo, one Connecticut husky is being celebrated as a four-legged hero after doing what most people hope they'll never have to do—stand between a young child and a charging black bear.

The scary encounter happened in Torrington and was all caught on a home security camera. A young boy was standing in the family's driveway when a black bear suddenly appeared and ran in his direction. Before the bear could get any closer, the family's husky took off across the yard, put itself between the child and the bear, and chased the wild animal away.
The dog didn't just scare the bear for a second, either. It kept barking and pursuing it until the bear finally left the property. Thankfully, the child wasn't hurt, and the brave pup walked away unharmed as well.
As you might expect, the husky was rewarded for its incredible effort with a well-earned T-bone steak. I'd say that's a pretty fair payment for saving the day.
Stories like this are becoming more common across Connecticut as the state's black bear population continues to grow. The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection says bear sightings have increased dramatically over the years, especially during the spring and summer months when bears are most active.
DEEP reminds Connecticut residents that the best way to avoid bear encounters is to make your property less attractive to them. That means removing food sources like bird feeders, securing garbage cans, and eliminating anything else that could encourage bears to wander into neighborhoods.
Officials say those simple steps can help reduce dangerous encounters for both people and bears. As for this Torrington family, they're probably just grateful they had one fearless husky keeping watch over the yard.
