A new study by WalletHub.com has just been released which ranks the top colleges and universities in America for 2025, and all three that I've mentioned have made the Top 100. In order to calculate their rankings WalletHub compared over 791 colleges and universities across the US across seven key dimensions: Student Selectivity, Cost & Financing, Faculty Resources, Campus Safety, Campus Experience, Educational Outcomes, and Career Outcomes.

Those dimensions were further evaluated using 30 relevant metrics: Admission Rate, Share of Freshmen in Top 10% of High School Graduating Class, Net Cost, Student Loan Debt, Student-Faculty Ratio, On-Campus Crime & Arrests, Share of International Students, Gender & Racial Diversity, Graduation Rate, Post-Attendance Median Salary, and Share of Former Students Outearning High School Graduates among the 30.

The Top 10 Colleges & Universities in Connecticut for 2025 According to WalletHub

  1. Yale
  2. Wesleyan
  3. Trinity
  4. UConn
  5. Connecticut College
  6. Fairfield
  7. Quinnipiac
  8. Central
  9. Western
  10. Hartford

In the overall rankings from WalletHub Yale was ranked at #3, Wesleyan at #57, Trinity at #88, UConn at #106, and Connecticut College at #110.

At the top of the rankings for 2025 - #1 Princeton, #2 Harvard, #3 Yale, #4 Dartmouth, and #5 MIT. An East Coast/New England trouncing of all of the competition. California Institute of Technology ranked in at #6, the first representative from the West Coast. At the very bottom of the rankings were a wide array of schools in the American South and Southwest. Stay North in America, you'll do fine students.
