New Haven Ranks High Among Best Baseball Cities In America
Although we don't have the moderate climate for year-round play, according to a new study, Connecticut is sandwiched between two of the top five cities in America for baseball in 2025.
The World Series starts tonight between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Toronto Blue Jays, and once again our local teams didn't make it to the championship. The New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox zeroed each other out during the wildcard round, and we're left with deciding on rooting between a divisional rival or one of our longtime archenemies.
WalletHub.com has just released Best Baseball Cities in 2025, where they've ranked 333 of the US's most populated cities in order to determine which are best and worst for baseball fans. In order to determine their rankings WalletHub compared all 340 based on 31 key metrics and broke the cities down into small, medium, and large categories.
Connecticut cities do show up in the rankings, New Haven was our highest ranked coming in at #23 in medium-sized cities, Storrs at #29 in the small city category, Fairfield at #42 in small, Hard-Hittin' New Britain ranked at #67 in small, and finally Hartford at #83 in medium-sized cities.
In the large city category, the top cities have multiple MLB, Minor League, and College teams, and that's why New Haven and Hartford made some noise but couldn't compete. WalletHub has crowned New York City as the best city for baseball fans in 2025, and Boston was listed at #4. LA, Atlanta, and Chicago made up the rest of the Top 5. Who are we rooting for tonight? An expansion team in Connecticut.
