Connecticut: The Intersection of Stress and Anxiety – New Study
The Legacy Healing Center recently released the results of a new study looking to determine the most common mental health issue in each state — and Connecticut’s result is right on the number.

According to the data, the top mental health concern in Connecticut is anxiety and stress, with the most frequent search being some version of “why do I feel nervous all the time?” Yeah, that tracks.
The study analyzed Google search trends across the U.S. to find out what mental health issues people are most curious — or most concerned — about. Over 20 states, including Connecticut, had anxiety and stress at the top of the list. People all over the country are Googling things like “how to calm anxiety fast” or “how to stop overthinking,” which says a lot about where we’re all at mentally these days.
Marc Effron of Legacy Healing Center explained that anxiety can make it hard to focus, wreck your sleep, and leave you feeling constantly on edge. He’s not wrong. Anyone who’s ever tried to fall asleep while replaying something embarrassing, they said in 2016 knows that feeling. Actually, scratch that, I feel like 2013 had more swings and misses for my friend. It's a friend, a close one I'm referring to.

Depression and mood disorders came in as the second most common concern in the country, followed by addiction-related issues. But here in Connecticut, anxiety rules the day — whether it’s job stress, money stress, relationship stress, or just the general existential dread of living in 2025.
I’m pretty sure my anxiety would drop by half if I could just remember to breathe — and I don’t mean deep breath work or mindfulness exercises. I’m talking about the basic, survival-level breathing that keeps humans alive. Somehow, my unhinged body manages to forget that part several times a day.
What about our Tri-State neighbors? Turns out New York and New Jersey landed on the same answer we did. Looks like there’s nowhere to run!
Good luck out there. It’s a nightmare (the world, I mean).
