Why can't we all get along?! According to westernmassnews.com, two brawls occurred hours apart on Saturday, September 14th, at The Big E, causing numerous injuries!

A large fight with injuries occurred on Industrial Avenue, according to West Springfield Police. Several people were injured, some requiring medical attention and transportation to a local hospital, while a large group of people fled the area onto Memorial Avenue, according to police.

Police arrested James Stanley, 48, of Haverhill, and Levi Stanley, 33, of Amherst, NH, and charged them with disorderly conduct, malicious destruction of property, and assault and battery. Police have also charged James Stanley with unarmed robbery after they learned he had stolen items from one of the assault victims. The fair also issued both men trespass notices.

During the fair's closing hours on Saturday night, police approached a group arguing near Gate 5. Officers tried to calm the group and escorted them out of the grounds.

Kenneth Malone, 30, and Khalif Mohamed, 26, both Springfield residents, allegedly continued their heated disagreement with profanity and physical altercations despite police intervention. While attempting to separate the two men, officers witnessed Malone strike Mohamed in the face.

Question: Despite the Big E skirmish between four tough guys trying to spoil everyone's fun, would you still take the family to the Big E, which runs until Sunday, September 29th? The following are a handful of Connecticut Reddit readers commenting on this year's BIG E.

w045: "Worth the trip. It’s not cheap but by no means expensive. Parking can be a headache if you go on a weekend and especially if there is a major music act. One full day is usually enough."

Transluminary:  I'm gonna be a downer and say it's not that great these days. Everything is expensive and has long lines. As a child I don't remember having to wait like 45 minutes in line for a food stand. It's not bad, it's a fair... Maybe I'm just old
b34rman: Not worth it. It's expensive, it's crowded, and you get nothing you can't find somewhere else. Avoid!

yob00tyGo super early, and enjoy it during the daytime. Allocate about 2-3hrs from the time that you want to actually be there because you'll spend most of your time in traffic before getting in. Also, don't go too late (3 hours before closing) because there are annoying groups of teenagers roaming around, weed smell everywhere, and also by that time, the trash bins will be overflowing, and you can see trash all over the fair grounds. This was my experience last year lol  For parking, residential homes and some businesses on the road towards the fair will be renting out their parking lots for like 20-30$ - something that is an option if you can't find parking........BRING CASH

smolprincess928Absolutely not worth the trip. There are SO MANY incredible fairs available to go to that don't take $40 and 3 hours to park, have consistently good food without waiting in line for an hour, and don't horrifically abuse their animals. The conditions that the VAST majority of animals at the Big E are kept in for the fair genuinely made me cry last time I went. I will never support them again.
