Commission Looks to Commemorate & Celebrate With Sandy Hook Memorial
The Sandy Hook Permanent Memorial Commission has extended an invitation to submit potential designs for the memorial that will eventually be located off of Riverside Road in Sandy Hook.
Kyle Lyddy, the Director of the Sandy Hook Commission, recently told the NewsTimes:
We don't want to limit the creativity of anyone's design. We want these guidelines to be a basis that people can refer to.
How can one monument memorialize the tragedy and loss of twenty children's precious lives, while at the same time celebrate the valor and courage of the six educators who died trying to protect those lives?
The town of Newtown has submitted its guidelines for the memorial in a document which you can access at newtown-ct.gov.
That document invites "All Interested designers, including but not limited to landscape architects, architects, and artists" to apply as an individual or a team.
