New Milford Country Club Offers Comedy Night, Glow Golf, and More
If you’ve been sleeping on Candlewood Valley Country Club, now might be the time to wake up.

A lot of people hear “country club” and assume it’s just golf, polos, and people quietly talking about their backswing. Not here. Candlewood Valley Country Club in New Milford has turned itself into one of the more fun and active spots in the area, packed with events that go way beyond the golf course.
Let’s start with Comedy Night at the Club on Saturday, May 16. They’re bringing in a full night of grown-up laughs with headliner John Romanoff, Johnny Benson, and hosted by yours truly, Lou Milano (hey that's me). Tickets are just $20, which is basically the price of two drinks anywhere else these days. Buy your tickets here, now!
Then there’s Candlewood After Dark on Friday, May 29, which sounds like a movie title but is actually night golf. Players get to experience five glow-in-the-dark holes with dinner included carts ready to roll, and all the glow gear you need. If regular golf stresses you out, maybe neon golf is your lane.
They’re also making a big push to grow the game with Women’s Golf Week, featuring clinics, guided play, beginner sessions, and fun social events. It’s a great way for women who’ve wanted to try golf—or get back into it—to do it in a relaxed setting without feeling intimidated.
And if you’re looking to sharpen your game, the Ladies Practice with the Pro sessions with Scott Eckelman, PGA, offer instruction, practice, appetizers, and a beverage after. Honestly, that’s how all lessons should work.
On top of all that, Candlewood Valley was named the 2026 Golf Course of the Year, which says a lot about the people running the place and the experience they’ve built.

Then there’s the return of the Greater New Milford Open in August after a 38-year absence. It’s a two-day tournament with prizes, swag bags, and proceeds helping local charities.
So yes, Candlewood Valley Country Club has golf. But more importantly, it has energy. It has events. It has personality. And in a world where too many places feel stale, that matters.
