A Fresh Mural Brightens Up The Bantam Arts Factory
Although it's been in plain view for the better part of July yesterday was my first opportunity to stop by to appreciate the beautiful new mural installed on the exterior of the Bantam Arts Factory. My first thought? Wow.
For six long weeks I suffered through the Rt. 202 bridge replacement project just East of the Bantam Arts Factory without seeing this beautiful new artwork, but as of last Friday, the planned Summerlong closure of one of Litchfield County's major roadways has been completed. While work was happening on 202, artist Danielle Mailer and a small army of volunteers worked together to get the mural finished and installed on the side of the building. According to artsnwct.org, while most of us went around the site, Lauretano Sign Group got the mural installed up there on June 23, and six days later the official unveiling took place.
My first look happened yesterday morning at 4AM, and I almost stopped to take a photo of it, but I could tell that I needed a daytime photo to capture the bright colors. The photo you see above was taken around noon.
I'm a fan of Danielle Mailer's art, her work is everywhere in Litchfield County, especially in Torrington. The first piece of her art that really caught my eye is the horse that she put on the wall on the side of Kelly's Crystals in downtown. I hope that this project sparks the interest of every owner of a former factory in Litchfield County - bring some wonderful color to that gray and brown.
