Connecticut Brewery Lands in Top 10 for Craft Brewing Companies
We are lucky here in Connecticut to have many options when it comes to wanting a nice beverage. The brewery scene has definitely expanded immensely around the state and we have some great gems.
There are now breweries just about everywhere. Some are definitely more popular than others and some are better than others, but there are so many places to try. It'll definitely take you a long time to get through all of them here. Some of the more popular breweries that come to mind are Two Roads, Counterweight, Tribus, Thomas Hooker Brewing, the list goes on.

I came across a list that actually took me by surprise. It comes from the Brewers Association and it is for the Top 50 Craft Brewing Companies around the country. The list reflects "some of the strongest, most emblematic companies in craft beer”.
If there was one Connecticut brewery that I thought would make the list, I would've guessed Two Roads. I was actually completely mistaken. Two Roads isn't even on the list and neither is any other Connecticut brewery besides one. It's also a brewery you wouldn't necessarily think to make the list.
The Connecticut brewery to not only make the list but to also sit in the top 10 was Athletic Brewing Co. out of Milford - sitting at number 8. Now, some people may have not had Athletic before for a specific reason. All of their beer is nonalcoholic. Personally, I love Athletic. It is my favorite nonalcoholic beer and it is a preference when I am out and don't want to actually drink.
They are spot on with the taste and have so many different kinds. It's not hard to give up beer with alcohol in it when you can have a substitute like Athletic. They have grown immensely and gained national attention from all over. I honestly didn't categorize them with the breweries in Connecticut and that's on me. They deserve all of the love they get because they really did something right here.
Athletic Brewing is located at 75 Cascade Blvd in Milford.
