All I Want For Christmas is Litchfield County Dairy Products
Litchfield County may not have a mall, a superior pizza joint, or many gas stations, but it is saturated with incredible dairy products. The greatest gift I got is a daily commute past one of the best dairy farms in Connecticut, if not the world.
My daily commute along Rt.202 takes me through Bantam past Arethusa Farm's Holy Trinity of Arethusa al Tavolo, Arethusa Farm Dairy, and Arethusa a mano. You want breakfast, lunch, dinner, or desert? Stop by anytime, all are incredible. The fresh smell of waffle cones coming out of the Dairy store is intoxicating. The ice cream is so dense, the milk so creamy. Arethusa's reach is National at this point, most of their dairy products are available at every Big Y, Stop & Shop, and locally-owned grocery stores all over Connecticut, but it's so nice to go to the source.
My wife and I have also fallen in love with the dairy products and overall selection at Freund's Farm Market on Norfolk Road (Rt. 44) in East Canaan. Freund's is the battleground of Arethusa and the Hudson Valley's Ronnybrook Farm Dairy, they carry an excellent selection of both. Your choice of the finest cheeses, yogurt, and milk made in Ancramdale, New York and Litchfield, Connecticut under one roof? It keeps us coming back.
The products I can't get enough of: Arethusa Europa Cheese and Sweet Cream Chocolate Chip ice cream, Ronnybrook strawberry drinkable yogurt and salted butter.
