Another National Retailer Announces 700+ Store Closures, Connecticut May Be Affected
It is not an easy time for companies. I just wrote an article a couple weeks back about Denny's announcing the closure of 150 locations. Denny's followed multiple another national chains that have also announced closures this year. You can tell that many businesses are struggling in this economy, and it's very sad to see.
Today, Advance Auto Parts announced in a press release that they are planning to close over 700 of their stores across the country. They currently have over 4,500 stores around the United States, so this is a big part of their plan for the future growth of the company.
The release states that they are planning to close 523 Advance corporate stores, 204 independent locations and four distribution centers by mid-2025. The question I have is - will Connecticut be affected? Advance Auto Parts store locator shows that Connecticut currently has 58 locations. Looking at all of the different states, it looks like Connecticut falls in the middle of average number of locations. It ranges from Florida having over 500 locations to Idaho having only 7. While the company has not revealed which specific stores would be affected, it makes me think some Connecticut locations easily could be.
Advance Auto Parts is blanked around our state. If you think about it, 58 locations is a lot for the size of our state. There are some in all of the major hubs as well as surrounding towns. To see the full list of Connecticut stores, you can check it out here.
It is still so crazy that businesses are announcing closures left and right. We aren't hearing too much about openings and it only makes me wonder which national chain will be next. I hope we can turn the corner soon and business can start picking back up. The day I'm able to start reporting store openings regularly will be very ideal.
