Welcome to the latest edition of the Ace Endico Restaurant Spotlight, where we feature a new list of local restaurants each month to showcase some of the great eateries Connecticut has to offer. This month, we're going to be showcasing some of the best ice cream offerings in greater Danbury.

Nothing tastes more like summer than ice cream, right? Let's get started:

Rich Farm Ice Cream Shop

This ice cream shop is part of a five-generation dairy farm, and the ice cream is made daily on the farm using the best ingredients. They offer hard ice cream, soft serve, dairy-free ice cream, and Italian ice, and of course, it can go in sugar cones, waffle cones, sundaes, soda floats, milkshakes, and malts. You even can get quarts and pints to go.

Holy Cow Ice Cream

Holy Cow Ice Cream is a vintage American ice cream parlor serving all your traditional ice cream treats, plus ice cream soda, slushies, smoothies, frozen lemonade, and more. As their website says, their ice cream is handmade in small batches "with local-sourced dairy from Connecticut farms and a little bit of love."

 Ferris Acres Creamery

The creamery sits on the Ferris family farm, with family members both running the farm and the creamery. They offer ice cream, cakes, pies, catering, and electronic gift cards. Their regular ice cream flavors include cake batter, black raspberry, campfire, chocolate, and cow trax. We personally suggest trying Bada Bing.

Candlewood Creamery offers ice cream and Italian ice, as well as Açaí bowls, smoothies, waffles, crepes, and miniature baked treats. Ice cream flavors, based on availability, include party cake, creamsicle, Cookie Monster, Rocky Road, black raspberry, coffee, pistachio, Nutella chip, Irish cream, and many more.

Newbury Gelato

Owner Bruno Tropeano's parents immigrated to the United States from Italty, so he appreciates authentic Italian flavors like nocciola (hazelnut), stracciatella (chocolate chip and pistacchio. But he also takes pride in developing new flavors, such as banana rum cake. Either way, all the gelato is made from New England Dairy products and an all-natural, homemade base.
