It's not a fun topic but it gets people's attention so away we go. According to NBC CT, 9 towns in CT had positive West Nile Virus tests in mosquitoes. Is your town on there?
- Branford
- East Haddam
- East Haven
- Fairfield
- New Canaan
- South Windsor
- Stamford
- Wallingford
- Wethersfield
We did it Greater-Danbury Area! We dodged a bug shaped missile!
NBC CT adds:
Scientists with the state's mosquito testing program say the wet weather we've experienced this summer have led to a big increase in the mosquito population in Connecticut.
The CDC says that most people who have West Nile Virus (8 out of 10) will not show any symptoms. They say "About 1 in 5 people who are infected develop a fever with other symptoms such as headache, body aches, joint pains, vomiting, diarrhea, or rash. Most people with febrile illness due to West Nile virus recover completely, but fatigue and weakness can last for weeks or months. Serious symptoms in a few people. About 1 in 150 people who are infected develop a severe illness affecting the central nervous system such as encephalitis (inflammation of the brain) or meningitis (inflammation of the membranes that surround the brain and spinal cord)."

Dude I need my membranes in excellent working order. This is no time in my life for West Nile Virus. Thankfully, I'm not getting chewed up by mosquitoes this year which is unusual for me. I have a theory that mosquitoes love ginger skin, meditate on that.
