11-Year-Old New Yorker Sits In With Mets Radio Broadcast Team
11-year-old Caden Philip was actually calling play-by-play for the New York Mets!
Caden was the latest winner of the SportsNet New York(SNL) annual 'Kidkaster' contest, an experience that he will never forget. According to an article in Danbury's Daily Voice, Caden sat in with the Met's radio broadcast team which includes Gary Cohen, Ron Darling, and Keith Hernandez.
I thought Caden was a natural as he called the action in the bottom of the third inning as the Mets went on to beat the Padres 4-0. He was also firing off some funny quips between pitches that had Cohen and Hernandez in stitches.
Philip plays Little League baseball in Larchmont and recently threw a no-hitter. As Caden was packing up his things and getting ready to leave the Met's broadcast booth, Gary Cohen turned to the winner of the 'Kidcaster' contest and said,
Caden, that was a fantastic performance. I think we have you on the right track to be here for a more permanent basis. Great job!
