Wounded Warrior Helps New Fairfield Athlete

Her name is Jennifer Castro.....she's 9 years old and just learned to tie her shoes for the first time thanks to Greg Reynolds who served in the U.S. Army. Reynolds is missing his left arm and Jennifer was born with only part of her left arm.

Jenn and Greg got to know one another at The Wounded Warrior Amputee Softball Team Kids Camp in Louisville, Kentucky. War vets from Iraq and Afghanistan coach softball to kids from around the country. All the coaches have missing limbs as do the 20 kids ages 8 to 12. The Wounded Warriors also teach the kids how to bat using one arm and how to do one handed push ups. Jennifer said that the vets taught them about courage and never giving up. Jennifer's parents said that this camp was a" life changing experience for Jennifer. The veterans gave her strength and courage to stand tall and be proud of who she is......just as she is!"
