You know the phrase, "Like nails on a chalk board." Well, something happened at work today that made that come to mind.

You know the feeling. A certain sound or sounds can make your hair stand on end, make you cringe, give you goosebumps, and drive you up the wall. Even seeing this picture of nails sets my teeth on edge because, in my mind, I'm hearing them drag along a chalkboard!

All of this came about because some work is being done on the building I work in. They are prepping the outside to be painted, and the grinding, power washing type noise is permeating the walls and my psyche. No matter how loud I turn the rock up, I can't get away from it. I can't even concentrate. I should tell my boss that I need to leave immediately. Right, like any of us can get away with that. But, it did make me realize how much we crave quiet. Actually, not quite as much as being surrounded by sounds that either calm us, or give us energy. Not annoying, out of the ordinary sounds, that get in your brain, and won't let go. I just realized how much I also hate the incessant buzz of my cellphone.

You know what, I'm going to just keep turning the music up and soothe my savage beast!
