So, this kid Ian Bick has been the owner of Tuxedo Junction for a while now and apparently he is only 19-years-old.

I did not know about any of this until I read the article in the News-Times this morning.  I have not been there in a long time.

According to the article,

A 19-year-old Danbury High School graduate accused by federal agents in January of defrauding friends, classmates and their parents out of $500,000 has continued to run concerts out of his downtown juice bar while he is out on $250,000 bail.

This kid was accused of running a Ponzi Scheme. Now his entertainment license has been suspended for 30 days and he is one violation away from being shut down for good.

Here's my thing. I don't know this kid from Adam (my intern son), but I have met his kind before. I'm not saying he is a bad person or that he did any of what is being said about him.

I have however known young guys that would break their back to be overachieving youngsters and every single time the story played out the same. Every one of them ended up in legal trouble.

This kid obviously has the intellectual intelligence to run a business, but not the emotional intelligence to do it.

Go be a kid.

When I was 19, I would have looked at an opportunity like this and seen the red tape, the rules and regulations and said no thanks.  His brain obviously works different and it looks like he decided the rules don't matter to him.

I would have told my kid, my boys, that it's not the right time. It's time to go to school and make friends and be a teenager. You only get one chance and if you are that ambitious you can do it in your 20s.

P.S.  I had many good times at that place and I'm sorry to see that it has become a wasted space.
