Back in February, we told you the story about a young wheelchair bound Brookfield boy, Jared Carreras, who suffers from a brain condition called Hydrocephalus from which there is no cure.

Jared's stepdad Jayce, wrote and performed a beautiful song for his stepson which turned into a viral YouTube video. You can immediately see the difference in Jared as he begins the song.

I am thrilled to report that this year's proceeds from The We Care 5K road race will go to Carreras' family to help them purchase a new van so that Jared can be transported to Yale/New Haven Hospital and to school.

For the fourth year in a row, the race will be organized by the Brookfield-based Woodbridge Running Company and will be held on Sunday, April 26 at 9 am.

Registration is now opened for the race and can be filled out online.

If you're a local business and wish to be a sponsor, mail a check with your business card, corporate logo, or artwork to Woodbridge Running Company, 800 Federal Road, Unit 2, Brookfield, CT 06804.

Any questions can be directed to Jack Coutts at 203-775-1065. Here's a followup tune that my son, Ethan James and Jared's stepdad, Jayce, wrote together and sang for this beautiful boy!
