If your family's income is below $54,000 a year, you could be eligible for free income tax services.

According to the Danbury Daily Voice, if your family's income was in the low-to-moderate range in 2016, you may be eligible for free tax preparation services. VITA is an IRS-sponsored program where trained volunteers file state and federal tax returns at no charge. Last year VITA volunteers prepared around 500 tax returns securing $709,058 in total refunds.

Coordinator, Kent Rohrer told the Daily Voice that individuals who need tax help should call as soon as possible because they're already booked deep into March. Here are the three numbers to call if you need help with your taxes.

  1. 203-744-4700 - Community Action Agency of Western Connecticut
  2. 203-797-4511 - Westconn Vita
  3. 203-826-9517 - Danbury, VITA Inc.
