September 26th, 1983, Styx brought their "Kilroy Was Here" tour to the Hartford Civic Center.  It would be the band's final tour before a long breakup.

Tensions had been simmering between band members for some time, with singer/ keyboardist Dennis DeYoung wanting to take Styx in a more theatrical direction while guitarists Tommy Shaw and James Young wanted to keep rocking hard.  A delicate balance was achieved on the "Paradise Theater" and "Kilroy Was Here" albums, but the "Kilroy" tour, which featured elaborate costumes and band members acting out the plot of the album, was Styx's breaking point.  The band split up until 1989.  Shaw rejoined in 1995 and DeYoung left for good in 1999.  The Shaw/ Young lineup of Styx continues to this day.  Here they are in their 80's glory, with a complete performance of the "Kilroy" tour.
