How much more can be said about the heinous attack on our homeland that happened on September 11th, 2001? Apparently plenty! Bloggers are going crazy all over the internet and the all-news networks are resurrecting video footage from 13 years ago.

As I was researching different articles to help me with this blog, I came across a passage from author Lee Harris's book, "Civilizations and Its Enemies"(2004) that I found enlightening. Mr. Harris states that in a civilized society, such as the USA, people really aren't aware of the meaning of, "The Enemy." The enemy to you or I could be someone who's stolen money from us or an individual we've had a huge verbal altercation with. What is the real definition of "Enemy?" According to Lee Harris, "The enemy is someone who is willing to die in order to kill you, and while it is true that the enemy always hates us for a reason - it is his reason, and not ours." Most of the time, the people who make up "the enemy," have grown up being taught to hate the United States and what we stand for, "Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness." Mr. Harris argues that the Western World has neglected, or forgotten the concept of "the enemy" and claims this was an important factor in failing to prevent the September 11th, 2001 terrorist attacks.
