As AC/DC returns this week with their brand new album "Rock Or Bust", I thought I'd bust out my top ten AC/DC songs.

    Ballbreaker (1995)

    From the album "Ballbreaker"

This may be the most underrated AC/DC song during the Brian Johnson era. Produced by the great Rick Rubin, Angus delivers with another classic riff while Brian belts out the lyrics like a punch straight to your....um....midsection. OOFF!!!

    Who Made Who (1986)

    From the "Maximum Overdrive Soundtrack"

Even though AC/DC fell out of favor with the MTV audience in the mid to late 80s they stood their ground and didn't change a thing. They still dressed the same, still acted the same and still wrote the same straight-ahead salute-worthy rock 'n' roll they were famous for before. One of the gems from that era was this track from the "Maximum Overdrive Soundtrack".

    Rock N' Roll Train (2008)

    From the album "Black Ice"

AC/DC returned in 2008 with "Black Ice", one of their best albums ever and it was led by the first single 'Rock N' Roll Train'. The band brought in a new producer Brendan O'Brien for the album and it paid off big-time. It's no surprise that they decided to bring O'Brien back for their latest album "Rock Or Bust".

    Let There Be Rock (1977)

From the album "Let There Be Rock"

Who better to deliver a rock 'n' roll sermon than the great Bon Scott? No one should be sitting in their pews for this one.

If You Want Blood (You've Got It) (1979)

From the album "Highway To Hell"

The band's 1979 album "Highway To Hell" turned out to not only be Bon Scott's finest moment but his final moment as well. The title track gets the most notice for obvious reasons but this one is still my personal favorite from the album.

It's A Long Way To The Top (If You Wanna Rock N' Roll) (1975)

    From the album "T.N.T."

This is one of those AC/DC classics that has never been played live since Bon Scott's death. Brian Johnson has said it's mostly out of respect for Bon, who also played the bagpipes on this track.

For Those About To Rock (We Salute You) (1981)

From the album "For Those About To Rock"

How can anyone possibly put together an AC/DC Top Ten without including this one? FIYAAAAHHHH!!!!!!

    Hells Bells (1980)

From the album "Back In Black"

If Satan does come lookin' for me one day I hope I'm hearing this song as I am being pulled down. This has such a killer groove to it thanks to the super-tight rhythm section of bassist Cliff Williams, rhythm guitarist Malcolm Young and drummer Phil Rudd. Yeah I just use the word "killer" in the same sentence as Phil Rudd.

    Shoot To Thrill (1980)

From the album "Back In Black"

Another one from the "Back In Black" album and I am putting it ahead of 'Hells Bells' but not by much. The difference maker is the breakdown of this track around the 3:24 mark of the song. That part always gives me the goose bumps as it builds into the climactic ending.

    Thunderstruck (1990)

From the album "The Razors Edge"

From the opening chant to the fist-pumping chorus, this is the crown jewel.

The man who mixed the album, Mike Fraser, told a great story about this song in the book "Behind The Boards" by Jake Brown:

"Angus said, 'Well, we have this little intro thing,' and whipped out that little opening part, and it was only going to be on the intro. So as we start recording, Angus goes through the intro, and then as the first verse came up, he was still playing, and Bruce [Fairbairn, Producer] went, 'Okay, let him roll, and see where it goes,' and he wound up continuing to play it throughout the whole song in one take! By the end, he had this big long ash of cigarette hanging out of his mouth that he'd smoked throughout that one take...It was awesome."

Angus Young....The man is a simply a Guitar God.
