#83 Ryan Patsch scored with 1:40 remaining in the third period and the Danbury Whalers captured their first ever regular season championship by beating the Dayton Demonz, 3 to 2 on Dayton ice. This places the Whalers back into the Federal Hockey League finals for the third straight season.

This win gives the Whalers a chance to kick back and wait for a winner in the best of three Dayton/Watertown series.
