Outstanding Moments From My Brother’s 60th Birthday Party
I'm sure you would agree that turning 60 is a milestone and deserves a special type of party.
Mindy and I drove 5 1/2 hours to attend my brother Steve's 60th birthday party in Fairport, NY. That's cool, I love my brother, and I love to drive, plus my sister-in-law, Laura, spent four months planning this monumental celebration.
Honestly, the Fat Heads weirded me out! A Fat Head is a photo of the birthday boy/girl placed on a round, sturdy piece of cardboard and then displayed by all of the party goers. Everywhere you looked it was Steve here and there, behind the bar, everywhere you turned, he was staring at me! A little creepy!
My sister-in-law, Laura, did it all, devoting months of planning to Steve's 60th. This casual gala came complete with those Fat Heads, along with a 15-minute power point presentation that included photos from the day he was born, complete with all the pertinent bio information, and a live size cardboard cut-out of Steve. Why is Mindy pointing at his package? I really don't wanna know.
One of my favorite props from the party was a contribution from his work friends, a blowup Tyrannosaurus Rex Steve doll with a photo of his face on the front. I'm guessing Project Managers can be a bit quirky.
Yeah, this thing wouldn't fit inside any kind of vehicle, so we had to hire a guy with a convertible for transport to the after-party. One of the coolest gifts he received was an American Flag constructed with 260 baseballs painted red, white, and blue built by his two sons, Tim and Pete.
Brother Steve and Mindy. Real or cardboard cut out?
Ethan and Mindy. Real or cardboard cut-out?
Now, that my friends, is how you throw a 60th birthday party! As Mindy and I drove away for the trip home, the Tyrannosaurus Rex Steve Blowup doll bid us a safe trip home.
