If you're one of those brave souls that doesn't fear singing a popular or obscure song in front of a room full of total strangers, the center of your world should be Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Connecticut this week.

April 21-27 is National Karaoke Week 2024, and I just found out that Mohegan Sun is doing it up big this week in celebration. Karaoke will be available in numerous venues at the resort all this week and this weekend. Potential crooners 21 years of age or older are invited to belly up and belt out their favorite Adele or Ice Spice classics publicly at Mohegan's Comix Roadhouse, Lansdowne Irish Pub and Music House, or privately by renting out the GAME ON arcade, which also has arcade games and bowling, just in case your rendition of American Pie or Alice's Restaurant goes too long. As part of Mohegan Sun's National Karaoke Week celebration, they will be offering GAME ON's karaoke room for 50% off.

I sit behind a live microphone for four hours a day Monday through Friday, and I've been asked to get up and perform karaoke many times over the years. I've only done it a few times. I have so much respect for those that can maintain an artist's energy and pitch for more than 30 seconds. As good as I think I can imitate Barry White doing the spoken word intro to 'Can't Get Enough of Your Love', I lose the pitch, and sound like Gary White.
