She served Pawnee, Indiana in a way no one could expect. She cared about a town that no one else did. She did it tirelessly for years without help. She improved a town, most famous for Native American slaughter, simply because it was her town.

Leslie cared about the people in her town, simply because they were people. No matter how fallible they were, she had their back.

Leslie cared about people, plain and simple.

In all seriousness, Leslie was a fictional TV character. She was some creative person's ideal of what a public servant should be. We do not have this. It does not exist.

I do have hope. If this TV character existed in someone's mind, if that character resonated with me and millions of other American's, then it is possible. Caring about public service above yourself is simply an ideal right now. It's a long shot, but it could be a reality one day. Let's hope. Let's hope, we get to meet Leslie Knope.
