How can you tell if a friend or family member is lying to you? This is something I'm horrible at, catching someone in a lie.

Dr. Leanne ten Brinke from the Haas School of Business at the University of California has completed a research study that suggests men and women have preset instincts for detecting liars, especially if you understand that person's normal behavior.

Here are the body signs:

1. Head Positioning - The person you're talking with may make a sudden head movement when asked a direct question like a tilt or jerk. This would happen just before they answered the question.

2. Stature - Watch out for the dirty rat bastard who doesn't move at all when concocting a lie. In normal conversations, humans move casually and appear relaxed, but if they're lying, you may see a rigid demeanor which means something is not quite right.

3. Repetitiveness - These liars are trying to drill home their point by repeating it a bunch of times. They are trying to reassure themselves it may even be true, or they're buying time to come up with a more elaborate lie.

4. Overcompensating - If this ass bag is giving you too much information, it's a clear sign they are strongly trying to convince you their lie is true. Many people believe that if the liar keeps on talking, what their saying is true.

5. Covering the Mouth - Many of these lying creeps will sometimes cover their mouth with their hand when they really don't want to respond to your question. This is a sure sign they are shutting down all communication and have no intention of telling the truth.

6. Covering Vulnerable Areas - Dishonest humans may cover areas they consider vulnerable, like their throat, head, abdomen, or chest. Defendants in a court room often will cover their throat when hearing uncomfortable testimony.

7. Shuffling Feet - This the body's way of using up nervous energy, which shows this ass hat is on edge and uncomfortable with the question. This is also a sign the liar wants to walk away from the situation.

8. Difficulty Speaking - It's not uncommon for someone to be at a loss for words when caught in a lie because of the anxiety it brings about. Also watch for lip biting or pursed lips.

9. Infrequent Blinking - Lack of eye contact or rapid blinking are sure signs of a liar but some individuals may also try to manipulate you with extended eye contact. Master con man, Bernie Madoff was a classic example who exhibited this technique. When lying, they will attempt to hold a long stare to intimidate.

10. Pointing - This is the most aggressive sign of a liar. This is the kind of person that may become angry and aggressive and attempt to turn the tables on you by exhibiting intimidating gestures like pointing.

Now it's time to put the "Body Signs" experiment to the test.

Here are a couple of scenarios:

1. Ask your significant other if they've been texting with a member of the opposite sex.

2. Ask your significant other how many people they slept with before they met you.

3. Ask your significant other if they have any other children you don't know about.
