Here's some news making headlines on April 14th.

  • The 17-year-old boy killed in Sunday's car crash in Danbury has been identified as Fausto Dosantos. His death has been ruled an accident.
  • Connecticut Sen. Richard Blumenthal is proposing legislation that seeks to provide teachers with tools to help social and emotional learning. The bill has been named for Jesse Lewis, one of the 20 children killed at Sandy Hook Elementary School in 2012.
  • Lacy Spears started her 20 years to life sentence yesterday at the Bedford Hills Correctional Facility in New York State for murdering her 5-year-old son. Her lawyers have filed a notice of appeal. If her conviction is allowed to stand, she will stay at Bedford until she's eligible for parole in 2034.
  • A new report is highlighting a lack of oversight in another division of Metro North. It says that there is lax supervision and record keeping in the unit that maintains fiber optics for the switching system. Sen. Blumenthal says it's unacceptable that the railroad's lack of focus on safety continues.
