Play Ball. You still may not be hearing that anytime soon in Hartford.

I am so on the fence about the Hartford Yard Goats. Actually, it's nothing against any of the players, they're all just out there playing the game they love. Playing the game they were possibly born to play. Playing the game that hopefully will see them one day called up to the big leagues.

What yanks my chain is the deal that was done by the teams owner, that took them from being the New Britain Rock Cats, and turned them into the Hartford Yard Goats. I often went to see them play at the wonderful stadium in New Britain, and it was great. Now, you drive on 84 through Hartford, and see this new venue being built, and it looks out of place to me. And it STILL hasn't been finished.

Already way behind schedule, another glitch has it delayed again. According to courant.com, the developer missed the fifth of what's being called "milestones" to having the stadium open for the team's home opener on May 31. I know that sounds picayune, but all of these problems have already significantly pushed back the original home opener of April 7.

I don't think I'm the only person that has a bad taste in their mouth over how this has gone down from the start, and that's just sad for America's Favorite Pastime.
