Recently, we posted the following question: "What is the one piece of advice you'd give to someone moving to Connecticut?" We received 277 comments, and the most common answer was, "DON'T!" I didn't realize there was so much pent-up anger about living in Connecticut. Before we take a look at your comments, let's take a peek at the cost of living across the country.

I discovered a website called insure.com, which completed an in-depth research study titled "Cost of Living Comparison By State," which was published on March 4th. The Top 10 Most Expensive States To Live in compared to the national average were: (Keep in mind that Connecticut ranked #13)

  1. Hawaii
  2. Washington D.C.
  3. California
  4. New York
  5. Massachusetts
  6. Alaska
  7. Washington State
  8. Oregon
  9. Vermont
  10. New Jersey

Mississippi, Iowa, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Alabama were the five cheapest states to live in. What exactly constitutes "cost of living?" According to insure.comCost of living refers to the amount of money you need to cover basic living expenses in a certain location. That can include the average cost of:

      • Rent/mortgage payments
      • Utilities
      • Food and groceries
      • Health care
      • Home and auto insurance
      • Transportation
      • Other goods and services

Out of the 277 who responded to "Greater Danbury Speaks Out About Best Advice to Give Someone Moving to Connecticut," 56% stated simply... "DON'T." Some others who responded decided that Democrats ruined the state of Connecticut, and one individual said, "Buy all your guns before you move to Connecticut"
