Exciting news for residents of Connecticut! Wegmans, the renowned supermarket chain, is making its way into the state and setting up shop in Norwalk. Demolition has begun at their future site, with an expected opening in 2025. A spokesperson for Wegmans told Hearst Connecticut Media, "We don’t have an exact employee count for the Norwalk store just yet, but our stores generally employ between 400 and 500 people."

Even though the Norwalk store won't begin the job application process until the early months of 2025, you can currently sign up for Wegman's Job Alerts and also find out which locations are hiring. Just for the record, I did send Wegmans CEO Coleen Wegman an email imploring her to consider Danbury as the future site of Connecticut's second Wegmans. As I expected, she never answered that email. Rude!

My memories have always run deep for Wegmans. My first part-time job in 1967 at the age of 16 was at a Wegman's Supermarket in Fairport, New York, where I bagged groceries and met my first girlfriend, an extremely cute cashier who told me she loved the way I handled the groceries.

You could easily spend the better part of a day in a Wegman's supermarket. The Norwalk location will be a two-level store with approximately 95,000 square feet and a multi-level parking garage.
