  • The Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles says its major computer overhaul is complete ahead of schedule and the DMV offices will reopen on Tuesday Aug.18. The new computers mean that a whole bunch of DMV services are now available online, including registration renewals and the ordering of vanity license plates.
  • Bass Pro Shops is holding a job fair this week as it gets ready to hire staff for its store under construction in Bridgeport. The job fair starts Aug.17 and runs through Wednesday at the Klein on Fairfield Avenue. It runs from 8 a.m. until 7 p.m. each day. Also holding a job fair today in Bridgeport is Chipotle.
  • Start saving now!  "Star Wars" is coming to Disney theme parks. The Walt Disney company announced this weekend that it's developing two "Star Wars"-themed expansions to Disneyland in Southern California and Florida's Disney World. The new 14-acre attractions will introduce a new planet from the films created by George Lucas No opening date for the new "Star Wars" lands were given.
  • Beer, wine, and upscale treats are coming. Starbucks will offer wine and craft beer at night and will sell small plates including bacon-wrapped dates and truffle mac and cheese. The new menu debuts Wednesday at two-dozen new stores throughout the U.S. Starbucks also has liquor license applications for several hundred other locations and hopes to pour beer and wine in many of them by the end of the year.
