Could Hartford’s Mayor Be Connecticut’s Next Governor?
Luke Bronin, Mayor of Hartford, started the process of entering his bid for Governor of the State of Connecticut by creating an exploratory committee in a run for that office in 2018.
NBC Connecticut News reports Mayor Bronin said:
I’ve heard from a lot of Democrats all across the state of Connecticut, a lot of people across the state of Connecticut who have encouraged me to explore a run for governor… The state faces its own enormous budget crisis that needs to be tackled in (an) honest, transparent and long-term way, just as we’ve sought to do in Hartford.
He is 38-years-old and a Yale Law School grad. The mayor is just two years into his four-year mayoral term in Hartford. The announcement was made about the committee just before the weekend.
Current Governor Dannel Malloy announced that he will not seek re-election, so new leadership is sought as a number of politicians are creating exploratory committees right now, including Danbury's Mayor, Mark Boughton.
