A Brooklyn woman is facing multiple charges after it was discovered that she was driving a stolen vehicle through Bethel.

According to a press release from the Bethel Police Department, Officer Morris responded to a report of an erratic driver operating a white Toyota on Route 58 on Monday morning (December 11). Officer Morris says that when she spotted the car in question at the intersection of Walnut Hill and Plumtrees, she noticed that is had visible damage on the front, side, and rear, and attempted a routine traffic stop.

When the officer hit the lights and siren, the driver didn't stop for about another mile, swerving multiple times. Once she finally pulled over on Walnut Hill near Old Shelter Rock Rd., the driver couldn't produce an I.D., but identified herself as 31-year-old Rebecca Abad of Brooklyn. She was later fully identified as Rebecca Abad Ramirez, failed the field sobriety tests, and was placed under arrest at 8:55 AM.

Soon after the arrest, the Bridgeport PD advised Bethel officers that the vehicle which Abad Ramirez was driving had been reported stolen about an hour before she was pulled over.

All in all, Rebecca Abad Ramirez has been charged with DUI, first degree larceny, failure to stay right, and disobeying the signal of an officer. She was unable to post a $5,000 bond and was held for arraignment at Danbury Superior Court.
