UPDATE: According to WTNH.com, Wolcott Police captured suspected bank robber, Dashon Russel, at his home after his family convinced him to return. The 19-year-old Naugatuck resident originally fled the scene with around $1,250, but soon dropped the bag when the security dye pack self exploded.

It was a pretty scary morning at Webster Bank in Wolcott today. The bank was robbed this morning just after 10:30am.

According to WFSB.com, a young man, in his late teens or early 20s, entered the bank on Wolcott Road. He walked in, placed a garbage bag on the counter and handed the teller a note demanding money. The teller filled the bag with bait money. A dye pack placed inside the bait money exploded as the suspect ran out into the street and into a wooded area.

Police began a search of the area using their K9 Unit but the suspect is still at large.

The suspect was wearing a black, hooded sweat shirt and black pants. If you have any information, you are asked to contact the Wolcott Police Department at 203-879-1414. Webster Bank is offering a $500 reward for any information leading to the arrest of the suspect.
