A Slice of Heaven In Buffalo Wyoming [PHOTOS]

With my "work" brain burnt to a crisp, the four of us hopped into my buddy Scott's pickup at 5am on a Saturday morning to catch a 7:30am flight from LaGuardia to Rapid City, South Dakota and then a 3 hour drive to Buffalo, Wyoming to relax and replenish the spirit with a group of 20 good friends.

Our destination was "Camp Comfort" nestled in the foothills of the Big Horn Mountains in Buffalo, Wyoming right off Rt.16. This magic place was homesteaded back in the late 1890's by descendants of some good friends of ours and eventually modernized in the early 1950's with plumbing and heating along with the addition of 4 cabins so their extended family and friends had a place to go to relax and socialize.

We pretty much went our own ways during the day with some of us playing golf, horseback riding, and some, like myself, capturing the breath taking big sky scenery of the Big Horn Mountains.

Every evening at 6pm, we all congregated for cocktails, appetizers, and dinner with each cabin responsible for one evening meal. Thursday was our night to feed our friends, so Scott, Tracy, Mindy and I cooked up some fresh trout and fried chicken over an open wood fire! That's some good eatin' right there!

The first time Mindy and I were invited was back in 2001 and I was so mesmerized with the beauty and the "feel" of the camp along with the scenery and the friends we were with, I wrote a song titled, "A Slice of Heaven".........

"Two minivans loaded up with stuff....Some fishin' poles with some clothes and us....Drivin' 90 south barren hills a showin'....Diggin' country tunes with the junk food flowin'....Buffalo, our destination...Wyoming where our friends were waitin'...Drivin' uphill through the Big Horns to the top."

"A Slice of Heaven in Buffalo Wyoming....We're all together now so let's raise our glass and cheer!"..............

Here's hoping you have a place on Earth that inspires you and makes you feel the same way Mindy and I do as we look down from the ridge from the mesa knowing that Camp Comfort is waiting for us!
