As I was scouring the internet searching for Christmas movies that were filmed in Connecticut, I noticed that none of those movies even came close to being made in northern Fairfield County. Why is that? I'll tell you why.

I came to the realization that these feel-good holiday movies were all being filmed in what I call the 'fantasy-land' sections of Connecticut, like Greenwich, Darien, Mystic, Essex, West Hartford, Old Lyme, and Old Saybrook, where everyone and everything is cute, happy, wealthy, and attractive. Did you see the new sign on I-84 East as you're driving into Connecticut? It reads, "Welcome to Connecticut, Dress Nicely!" The following trailer for 'Christmas On The Carousel' will illustrate my point perfectly.

There are exceptions to the warm and fuzzy plots of these Connecticut-made Christmas movies, specifically the movie, 'Soul Santa' where a shopping mall Santa Claus is the disguise of a businessman that got into trouble with the mob's money.
